Walking up High Street past Vulcan Lane and looking to your left, you will see something you may have missed before. A store hidden from the street except for a window housing one exquisite garment, beckoning you down a flight of stairs into a realm of luxurious fabrics, sophisticated draping and X-factor styling. TK store, named after the designer, Turet Knuefermann, is truly a best-kept secret clothing store.
The underground boutique opened in High Street two years ago, as for many years Turet has been drawn to the character of the Vulcan Lane area.
“I first discovered the space when It used to be BPM records back in the days when I was at University so I was drawn to the fact that it was underground and private – tucked away from the hustle & bustle of the street.”
Turet Knuefermann, or ‘TK’, is a New Zealand fashion designer with a European sensibility. Her style is known for its clean lines, sumptuous fabrics and impeccable cutting techniques.
“In a recent interview, Stella McCartney said it’s important to make clothes that are extremely wearable, yet luxurious,” she says. “My philosophy is very similar. I cut to the silhouette of a woman’s body, and choose fabrics that fall to flatter her shape. Every piece is timeless and powerfully feminine.”
TK store is at number 18 High Street downstairs between Oroton and the Gateau House.
